Powergreen Wins Sustainable Project of the Year for Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall

Powergreen’s Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall earns the Sustainable Project of the Year Award, setting a benchmark for green sports arenas in Qatar.

A Milestone Achievement in Sustainability

Powergreen, formerly known as Innovations Unlimited ME, secured its first Construction Week Award at the Middle East event in 2015. The prestigious Sustainable Project of the Year Award was presented to Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall, the first sports arena in the world to achieve a four-star GSAS certification.

This recognition highlights Powergreen’s commitment to sustainable design and renewable energy solutions. With Qatar advancing its green building initiatives, Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall serves as a pioneering model for eco-friendly sports facilities.

Cutting-Edge Renewable Energy Integration

The hall’s photovoltaic system is a key feature of its sustainability framework. Covering an area of 1.8 km², the 250 KWp solar installation significantly reduces the facility’s carbon footprint. Each year, this system offsets more than 150 tons of CO2 emissions, contributing to Qatar’s environmental goals.

Beyond its technical advancements, the project sets a new benchmark for sustainable sports infrastructure. As Qatar prepares for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall stands as a landmark example of green stadium development.

Shaping the Future of Green Stadiums in Qatar

Qatar is only beginning to explore its sustainability potential. By incorporating renewable energy, efficient resource management, and eco-conscious design, the country is paving the way for future green stadiums.

Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall is more than just an award-winning project—it is a role model for clean sports venues. Its success encourages further adoption of green building standards in upcoming stadiums, arenas, and public infrastructure projects.

Recognizing Excellence in Project Management

The awards night delivered yet another achievement for Powergreen. Project Manager Manos Kappas received a Highly Commended Title for his exceptional leadership in managing multiple renewable energy projects within the company’s portfolio.

His contributions reflect Powergreen’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in execution. By leading complex projects in the renewable energy sector, he has played a key role in advancing green building practices in Qatar.

Setting a New Standard for Sustainability

Winning the Sustainable Project of the Year Award marks a significant milestone for Powergreen. This recognition strengthens its position as a leader in renewable energy and sustainable construction.

With Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall now a model for eco-friendly sports infrastructure, Powergreen continues to drive the next generation of sustainable developments in Qatar and beyond.
